You no longer need an invitation to use Journima: sign-up opened on 19 September.
What a new account gets
Use an email and a password, or choose Continue with Google. Workspace admins can now invite people who have no account yet. The plans are Free, Team and Business; the paid two are billed per editor, monthly or yearly.
The workspace you get when you sign up runs on Business for fourteen days, and no card is needed. It comes with a sample map, two personas and a Get started with Journima checklist on the dashboard.
Build maps faster
Reshaping a map mid-workshop takes fewer clicks. A stage's menu adds a stage to its right or moves it along. ⌘D or Ctrl+D duplicates the selected card. A card's size button stretches it across more stages or fewer and sets its height; Match largest gives a selected column of cards the tallest one's height. Convert card turns a note into a pain point or an opportunity without retyping it.
Copy and paste carry cards and lanes from one map to another. Paste a list, an image or a table from Excel or Google Sheets, and a preview shows the cards before they land. Add lane offers eight ready-made lane templates, from a RACI matrix to Effort & confidence.
New in lanes
The Sliders lane rates each stage on up to eight labelled scales without numbers. An emotion lane can hold named, coloured lines of its own beside the persona curves. A channels lane keeps its own list, custom channels included, and each card ticks the ones it uses.
Lock and follow a map
An admin or the map's coordinator can choose Lock map in the map's Settings panel. The map turns view-only for everyone while comments stay open. The Activity panel lists card changes, and New marks what others changed since you last looked.
Portfolio, now with Jira
Since 19 September, on the Business plan, a portfolio item can link to the Jira issue that delivers it, or create one with Create in Jira. The map card then shows the issue's key and status, so a review sees which fixes are moving without opening Jira. Integrations covers the connection.
On Team and Business, Import on the portfolio toolbar reads a .xlsx or .csv file through a column mapper and a preview. A Columns menu picks what the table shows, and a Links column counts connected items by type. When you place portfolio items or metrics in a cell, you can tick several at once.
Sharing personas
Each persona has a Share panel. On paid plans its links take the same password and expiry as map links. Export PDF or Export PNG saves the whole persona as one page. Generate with AI, on the maps list, now drafts a map's personas too, each with its own emotion points.
Moving maps between workspaces
Download as JSON saves a map to a file, and Import on the maps list reads it back in another workspace, without its images. Copy to workspace sends a map and its images to another workspace where you are an editor.
Smaller things
The maps list gained columns for when you last opened each map and when it was made. Tick several maps to tag them or move them to trash at once; personas can be tagged or deleted the same way. In the research hub, Add transcript turns a spreadsheet of quotes into one transcript. The app, this site and our emails got a calmer design. The nine template pages now offer an Excel download that Journima imports back, and a PNG of the grid. The guide has six how-to articles.
